Description

This thesis presents the results of a geological examination of the Coso Hot Springs region, including a discussion of the areal geology and a description of the hot springs and mercury deposits in the area. The thesis is presented as a partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science at the California Institute of Technology. The field work on which the report is based covered parts of the academic year of 1938-39. A topographic map of the area was prepared by means of a plane-table survey. The geologic features were mapped with the use of a plane-table and a Brunton compass.
