Description

These files are the supporting data files for Klusman et al. (2022) in Icarus. The title of the paper is "Seasonality in Mars Atmospheric Methane Driven by Microseepage, Barometric Pumping, and Adsorption" The files are described as follows: 1. figure1.txt - Input data for the calculation of the geotherm shown in Figure 1 of the related research article. The data is for 77 50-meter intervals from a depth of 3850 m to the surface at 0.0 meters. 2. figure2.txt – data used in the plotting of Figure 2 in the main text (degree of saturation for brine and gas in the subsurface). 3. figure3.txt – Computed vertical velocities of gases being modeled by the barometric wave for each of 360 Ls values. Figure 3 of the accompanying research document. 4. figure4.txt – Computed fluxes of gases being modeled by the barometric wave for each of 360 Ls values. Figure 4 of the accompanying research document. 5. figure5.txt – Computed fluxes of methane for two different permeabilities modeled by the barometric wave for each of 360 Ls values. Figure 5 of the accompanying research document. 6. figureS1.txt – data used in the plotting of Figure S1 in the "Data in Brief" (pH, ionic strength). 7. figureS2.txt – data used in the plotting of Figure S2 in the "Data in Brief" (principal ions in aqueous phase). 8. figureS4.txt – data used in the plotting of Figure S4 in the "Data in Brief" (pseudo- reduced pressure and pseudo-reduced temperature used in computing gas compressibility "zee"). 9. figureS5.txt – data used in the plotting of Figure S5 in the "Data in Brief" ("zee"). 10. figureS6.txt – data used in the plotting of Figure S6 in the "Data in Brief" (gas density). 11. figureS7.txt – data used in the plotting of Figure S7 in the "Data in Brief" (gas viscosity). 12. figureS8.txt – data used in the plotting of Figure S8 in the "Data in Brief" (brine viscosity). 13. gale112.txt – Selected output from the PHREEQC computation for each of the 77 intervals. The full output from the PHREEQC computation is not included here as it is 20,000+ lines. It can be re-created by running the PHREEQC program with the input file shown above. 14. gascomp3.txt – Gas composition of the "reservoir" at the base of the cryosphere. 15. ISTRAT02.txt – Depth at the bottom, depth at the top, brine density in Earth gravity, porosity, permeability (md), ionic strength, number of computation intervals for each of the 77 depth intervals. 16. marSURTP.txt – Data used to compute average surface temperature and pressure at the rover Curiosity location, and the surface pressure and temperature for each of 360 Ls values in the Martian year. 17. NCONTROL.txt – Various necessary individual input control variables used in computation of necessary data used in Figures 3, 4, 5 of the accompanying research article. 18. PHREEQC-7-23-2020b.Input – Input control file used to direct and control PHREEQC computation of aqueous equilibrium for each of the 77 intervals in the geotherm calculation. 19. REMSopd7.txt – Martian atmospheric optical density for Martian Year 31, MY32, MY33, MY35. MY34 is not used because of unusual atmospheric dust timing and intensity. 20. VERT04I.txt – Output file containing the sequential computation of parameters used in development of Figure 2 of the accompanying research document. 21. VPICE1.txt – Vapor pressure of ice at temperatures potentially relevant in the near-surface of Mars at the Gale Crater location. This data was used in the modeling of water vapor fluxes, but not subsequently used in the accompanying research document.
